Facts About Wasps

Wasps are typically black and yellow and from 18mm to 23mm long. A female (or more commonly known as the Queen) will usually starts a nest around spring time. A Wasps nest is formed from wood found in shavings, dead trees and any other wood type material. It is then chewed causing a glue to hold the wood together and then the nest is built from this material.

The queen lays eggs which hatch in 3-5 days and once the larva emerges the wasp is fully grown in 3-4 weeks.

An average nest can produce 25,000 - 30,000 Wasps during the season. Depending on the location a range of approaches is taken for the removal of a Wasps nest.
